James Lee

James is a family lawyer in the Sydney office of Ramsden Lawyers. He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Studies in 2014. He was admitted to the NSW Supreme Court and Australian High Court in 2015 and has been practicing in family law ever since. James commenced with Ramsden Lawyers in January 2021.

James is a passionate and devoted solicitor and takes great pleasure in fierce advocacy on his clients’ behalf. James has experience in all aspects of family law practice, including property settlements, child living arrangements, relocation applications, spousal maintenance and binding financial agreements. He also has experience working in succession, criminal law and children’s law.

While James is not shy about litigating his clients’ matters and is comfortable with aggressive court applications when necessary, James is also a believer in the benefits of early dispute resolution and negotiation to reduce both costs and negative outcomes.

James takes pride in building a relationship with his clients, ensuring that they feel heard and understood throughout their matter. James believes that it is critical, in family law matters, that the client has active involvement and ownership of their case. This is why he takes time to understand his clients’ motivations and desires before giving advice. Whether the case takes three weeks or three years, James is committed to supporting his clients through the process.

James is also able to accept briefs from NSW Legal Aid in family law proceedings.

James has lived in Sydney his whole life and has worked with firms across the Sydney CBD and Western Sydney. He is an avid sports fan and, when not in court, can often be found yelling at a game on television. He is particularly passionate about his beloved Wests Tigers.
