Sophie Goossens was admitted to practice law in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2015 and has since been admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Since 2015, Sophie has worked exclusively in Family Law working at leading boutique family law firms and volunteering at local community legal centres in both Queensland and New South Wales.
Sophie brings a pragmatic, transparent and positive approach when assisting her clients to navigate their complex family law matters, whilst showing empathy. Sophie is known to take a level-headed approach whilst helping her clients to remain claim in their family and relationship matters, which can be very confusing and stressful for all involved.
Sophie’s experience and passion lie within complex and contentious property settlement and parenting matters. She is a meticulous and determined negotiator and trusted advisor and has the ability to understand underlying dynamics in de-facto relationships and marriages, including same sex couples. Sophie utilises these insights to navigate emotional drivers.
Sophie is passionate about working collaboratively and cooperatively with experts from other disciplines (including but not limited to accountants, commercial lawyers, criminal lawyers, psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists and social workers) to minimise conflict where possible and to attain the best possible outcomes for her clients Sophie is actively involved within her professional bodies, including being a contributing editor for CCH Australia, along with preparing and presenting CPD material within the family law realm.
