July 2025 Family Law Fee Updates

From 1 July 2025, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia has introduced its annual adjustment of court-related fees in accordance with the Family Law (Fees) Regulations 2022

These changes impact various aspects of family law proceedings, from divorce applications to appeals and hearings and understanding these updates is essential when planning your legal journey.

In this article, we break down the key changes, what they mean for your matter, and how Ramsden Family Law can guide you through the evolving landscape.

Why Do Court Fees Increase?

Court fees in family law matters are regulated by the Australian Government and reviewed annually. This process ensures the courts can continue delivering accessible and efficient services. While fees have increased, provisions remain for reduced fees or exemptions for eligible individuals, particularly those facing financial hardship or receiving government support.

We also encourage clients to explore non-litigious options, such as mediation or collaborative law, which may reduce or avoid court-related fees altogether.
