What does this estimate include?
The selected legal work is listed in your breakdown. All displayed legal fee amounts include GST. An estimate for an agreed settlement assumes the agreement remains substantially agreed and the necessary information is available.
What costs are separate?
Court filing fees, process servers, private mediators, barristers, valuations, accountants, family reports, expert evidence, translation, overseas service and other external expenses are additional unless expressly included. These are not calculated in the legal fee total.
Why might my costs change?
Costs depend on the complexity of the issues, the documents and disclosure required, the amount of correspondence, changes in instructions, the other party’s cooperation and the lawyer undertaking the work. Further negotiations, urgent applications and additional hearings can increase costs substantially.
What if I need both parenting and property advice?
Select the combined pathway. It uses an indicative combined scope rather than automatically adding two separate matters together. Your lawyer will assess any overlap and provide an individual estimate.
Is divorce the same as a property settlement?
No. The divorce pathway estimates the divorce application only. Property settlement, parenting arrangements and financial agreements involve separate work and are not included in that estimate.
What happens after I get an estimate?
Book a consultation to discuss your circumstances, the work required and a tailored costs estimate. Any initial payment into trust is a payment towards fees, rather than an additional fee.
