Maggie Faddoul

Special Counsel

As Special Counsel at Ramsden Family Law, Maggie Faddoul brings more than 13 years of family law experience. She is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law, a Nationally Accredited Mediator and a collaboratively trained lawyer. Maggie also holds a Master of Applied Law specialising in family law.

Maggie provides advice and representation across a broad range of family and relationship law matters. Her experience encompasses property settlements, parenting arrangements, financial agreements, spousal maintenance and cases in which family violence is a concern.

A significant part of Maggie’s practice involves resolving complex financial issues following the breakdown of a relationship. She has acted in matters involving substantial asset pools and ownership interests in businesses, companies and trusts. Her work often requires the careful identification and tracing of assets, the coordination of appropriate valuations and a detailed examination of complex financial structures and arrangements that are not immediately straightforward.

In parenting matters, Maggie represents clients in private negotiations as well as court proceedings. She has acted in challenging cases involving allegations of family violence, concerns about safety, high levels of conflict and complex parenting dynamics.

She understands that the effects of a parenting dispute can extend well beyond the conclusion of the legal process. For this reason, Maggie works to ensure that each client’s experiences and concerns are properly presented while remaining conscious of the importance of limiting children’s exposure to conflict.

She is also able to advise on issues arising with estate planning following separation. She helps clients consider whether their changed circumstances may affect their existing estate plans and what steps may be required to protect their future interests.

Maggie regularly appears for clients at mediations, interim hearings and final hearings. Her experience as both a mediator and litigator gives her a practical understanding of the different ways a family law matter may progress. She assists clients in evaluating their options and choosing a course that reflects the circumstances of their case.

At the outset of each matter, Maggie seeks to understand what the client needs to resolve and what a successful outcome would look like for them. She then works with the client to develop a clear strategy that protects their legal and financial position while keeping avoidable conflict, expense and delay to a minimum.

Maggie is known for making complex legal, factual and financial information easier to understand. She provides direct, practical and considered advice so that clients can make informed decisions about their children, finances and future. Throughout the process, she keeps clients informed and ensures they have a meaningful opportunity to explain their circumstances and priorities.

Her approach combines empathy with careful preparation and strategic thinking. Maggie understands that the process used to resolve a family law dispute can have a lasting effect on the people involved. She therefore aims to conduct each matter with dignity and to pursue outcomes that are both legally sound and capable of working in practice.

Maggie was drawn to family law as it allows her to apply rigorous legal analysis while supporting people through periods of significant change. She finds particular value in helping clients move from uncertainty towards a clearer understanding of their position, their options and the next chapter of their lives.
